Ep. 2 Predicting MLB Player Injuries

How Machine Learning and Systems Thinking Can Take You Beyond One Doctor's Opinion of an MRI to Understand What Likely Went into the Carlos Correa Free Agency Saga, Plus the Chris Paddack Extension
  • A quick review of the previous couple newsletters

  • A dig into the use of machine learning for predicting future MLB player injuries and what that means to the teams and the players

  • Deep dive discussion based on systems thinking on what more likely was involved in the Carlos Correa saga with the Giants, the Mets, and the Twins. Hint: It was a lot more than Scott Boras’ suggestion of a narrow-minded doctor and two teams with timid souls. Also how the Chris Paddack extension has some of the same fingerprints on it.

  • Who’s right, Scott Boras or me? Please comment.

  • Show notes are coming soon.

  • Technical:

    • Still working through the work flow. Ended up both missing the target to post the episode last week and having some segments that were in the can that now have inaccurate time references at the time of release. Ope.

    • Partially related to recording different segments at different times, but more related to still figuring what I’m doing as I shake off the post-processing rust while using new tools, there are some audio variances. Well, ope again. I’m dialing it in, but please bear with me while I experiment.
